EULAR Congress 2016 - 8th – 11th June 2016
The European League Against Rheumatism (EULAR) is the organisation, which represents the patient, health professional and scientific societies of rheumatology of all the European nations. EULAR endeavours to stimulate, promote and support the research, prevention, treatment and rehabilitation of rheumatic diseases (RMD's).
EULAR's 2016 annual congress is at the Excel Centre in London, commencing 8th June, Wednesday afternoon and closing on Saturday 11th June. View the preliminary programme or visit the congress website. All final information will be available approximately one month before the event.
This is a wonderful opportunity to attend EULAR, in particular the patient PARE (People with Arthritis & Rheumatism) sessions. For the first time there is a session on what's new, the latest advances in treatment for Systemic Sclerosis and Fibromyalgia on Friday 10th June. These are listed in the programme under 'PARE and Joint PARE sessions'. Many of those with the conditions have shared issues and experiences, and these are represented in the variety of topics. Other PARE sessions include Patient Organisations in Action, “Fewer words – more action" – tailored care for men with rheumatic disease, “Digital applications for the benefit of the patient", “New approaches to understanding & managing chronic musculoskeletal pain" and “There is more than Drugs". Simon Stones, a speaker in the session 'It's in your hands', is this year's worthy winner of the Edgar Stene prize essay.
Registration for this International congress is just £30 - a doctor's certificate must be submitted with the registration form. If you need a carer to accompany you, their details should be included in the certificate. Registration links can be found under 'Participants' along the menu at the top of the congress home page. Any queries, please contact the conference organisers: eular.reg@mci-group.com
You will have access to the PARE sessions, the scientific sessions the charity village, but not access into the Commercial Exhibition area.
The 2015 EULAR congress was held in Rome with over 14,000 delegates from nearly 120 countries, so you can imagine how large this conference will be. Please be prepared for a fair amount of walking and wear comfortable shoes.
Scleroderma & Raynaud's UK (SRUK) will be hosting the FESCA stand in the EULAR village, Hall S11 Stand V14 over the 4 days of congress speaking to visitors about the work of the patients organisations across Europe and FESCA. SRUK is currently looking for volunteers to help spread awareness of this work and are happy to pay the £30 registration fee for anyone who is interested in volunteering for half a day. Please contact tracey.spray@sruk.co.uk if you are interested.
