Write to your MP

Join our campaign for more support for people living with Raynaud's and struggling with rising energy bills.  We need as many MPs as possible to understand what Raynaud's is and the potentially devastating effect that the high cost of energy is having on people with this condition.

We've put together this guide to help you write to your MP to raise awareness of this important issue

Step 1: Find the details of your local MP here  you can email, phone, or send a handwritten letter.  You can do this in your own style or you can use our template example below and add your details.

Step 2: Make your letter personal, tell your MP why this is important to you and remember to include your address and contact details so they know that you are a local constituent and can respond.

Step 3: Tell your MP what action you want them to take and ask them to respond to you.

Say thanks - if they respond and want to help then that's really great news - let us know as well; it's always good to know when people are willing to help.

You can copy and paste the below template  – but you can also do it your way; this is your letter to your MP and they're more likely to respond when they know it's something that their constituents are passionate about.

Dear {MP name},

Re: {Clear title summarising the subject of the letter}

My name is {your name} and I am a constituent of {your constituency}.

I am writing to you because I am concerned about the high cost of energy and the potentially devastating impact this is having on people like me, who are living with a condition called Raynaud’s.

Raynaud’s is not widely known, but it affects one in six people in the UK and is incredibly painful. Cold temperatures and stress cause my body to temporarily stop the blood flowing to my extremities, like my hands and feet.

{Include any personal experiences of Raynaud’s attacks, including how they feel and the impact they have}.

Staying warm is one of the best ways for me to prevent these terrible attacks, but soaring energy prices are making this {describe the impact of high energy bills on your ability to heat your home and stay warm}.

As my MP, I am asking you to take the following steps to address my concerns:

  • Support the charity Scleroderma and Raynaud’s UK (SRUK) in calling for the Chancellor and Prime Minister to provide financial support to keep heating affordable for people with Raynaud’s
  • Raise the issue in Parliament in February, during Raynaud's Awareness Month & before the March budget is delivered

Please keep me informed of any progress.

Yours faithfully,
