A novel study to detect early scleroderma symptoms has been funded by SRUK

SRUK and Dr Francesco del Galdo worked together to raise awareness of Raynaud’s Phenomenon and diagnose people in Leeds with Raynaud's. He is now leading a study that will have huge potential to ‘predict’ who will develop scleroderma and therefore will enable earlier treatment that may be able to prevent, or even cure, the condition.

Nailfold Capillaroscopy: A technique to enable earlier intervention

In 2010, SRUK awarded a grant to Professor Arianne Herrick and her team at the University of Manchester for research to be conducted on nailfold capillaroscopy, which provides rheumatologists with a non-invasive window into the circulation in the nailbeds of patients.

Enhanced Liver Fibrosis Test: A new biomarker of fibrosis in systemic sclerosis

A multicentre study spread across Europe was recently conducted to evaluate how effective the Enhanced Liver Fibrosis (ELF) Test would be as a biomarker of fibrosis (scarring) in systemic sclerosis (SSc).This would aid the understanding of what drives fibrosis in individuals and thus enable the application of precision medicine for treatment strategies.
